Lakers fall short in Boston as the Celtics push their winning streak to 10 games.

Celtics top the Lakers for their 10th straight win with a 107 – 96 win.

The Lakers came out sloppy and lifeless against their most hated rival the Boston Celtics. The Lakers committed 9 turnovers in the first quarter.

The Celtics came out firing and hit six threes in the first quarter leading to a 33 – 16. In the second quarter the Celtics pushed the lead to 20 points but, the Pandas pushed back and cut the lead to 9 by the half.

Julius Randle again made a huge impact coming off the bench helping to key the rally which got the Pandas back into the game. Ultimately the Pandas terrible night behind the arc shooting an anemic (5 – 24) from 3 paired with some terrible pick and roll defense led to their demise.

3 Good Things

Julius Randle played another excellent game off the bench. His play in the second quarter keyed the rally which made this game competitive. He finished the night with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 dimes and one steal. He’s making a case for somebody to pay him well even if it’s not the Lakers.

Brandon Ingram had a very quiet 18 points. Ingram was very efficient from the field going 7/11. He also chipped in 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Ingram is slowly becoming more consistent and also, attacking the paint more on switches when he has a mismatch. His aggressive play was rewarded as he shot the most free throws (4/7) of any Laker.

Jordan Clarkson had a solid night off the bench as well. Clarkson continues to be one of the best bench scorers in the league as he chipped in 18 points on 7/13 shooting.

3 Bad Things

Luke Walton’s decision to bring back Brooke Lopez to finish the 4thquarter was puzzling. Randle’s energy and aggression in attacking the basket keyed the rally which got us back into the game and Lopez wasn’t exactly dominating on either end of the floor seems like it was an opportunity to let Julius finish what he started.

Our 3 rookies played like rookies last night against the Celtics. Lonzo was booed pretty much every time he touched the ball from the opening tip. Even though he was more aggressive than in other games and had a nice stat line 9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks he still struggled shooting the ball and whiffed on defense a few times. Kuzma didn’t shoot the ball well and also had 3 turnovers and 5 fouls. Jason Hart missed his only shot attempt but committed 2 turnovers.

The Pandas pick and roll defense was atrocious last night. Kyrie Irving was able to get into the paint and create easy baskets for himself and others all night, he could have easily had at least 10 assists last night if the C’s would have shot over 38%.
